Making Candy In Microwaves

It is so easy to use microwaves to make candy. MicrowavesDuring the holiday season, I like to give homemade gifts to family and friends. I have a recipe file full of candy recipes that work well in microwaves. Even though I have a few favorites, I am always looking for more candy recipes to try.

MicrowavesMicrowaves make great Butter Toffee. To make it, you need sugar, butter, water, dark corn syrup, vanilla, chocolate chips and walnuts. This comes out really well and is very golden and nutty. This toffee gets very hard and it is fun to break it into a lot of pieces with my hammer after it has cooled.

There is a fudge recipe that I use that has been adapted for use with microwaves. The title of the recipe is Two Minute Microwave Fudge. It does take more than two minutes to make, though. To make this great fudge, you use a bowl that is safe for microwaves and heat butter, powdered sugar, cocoa, milk and vanilla for two minutes. The next step is to beat the mixture with an electric mixer until it is smooth and then add nuts. The fudge is done after it has set up in a refrigerator for about twenty minutes.

Microwaves 900 WMy kids love using microwaves to make peanut butter fudge. I think that they like this recipe best because it only has three ingredients. All this recipe needs is chocolate chips, peanut butter and sweetened condensed milk. They discovered this recipe in my file for recipes appropriate for microwaves and it became an instant hit.

My stepmother has been using microwaves to make hard candy for over twenty years. She uses a variety of extracts to change the outcome. I’ve known her to use almond flavoring, cherry flavoring and even lemon flavoring. I have always loved the candy that she makes in microwaves.
